Oh, I see now. Indeed, I don't fully understand much of this protocol, but I get that it could be useful one day for extracting data, perhaps for companies, brands, or apps, I imagine?

Not a problem with surfing the site.
But when you want to pull in data from the protocol, this can be an additional parameter you can use to filter possible bots. 
Maybe other people can think of more usecases
