I think X has done a really good job at accelerating independentish media on the platform

which is pretty aligned with what they were going for, enabling people with platforms/distributions to "go direct"

the main thing i sort of resent is that it feels like a pretty homogenous set of views that are amplified because the platform is so politically coded now

What bothers me the most are the ads (they’re really garbage), the influence of Elon and Trump every time I open the app, I see a tweet from one of those two first. Too many comments in the feed, and it’s getting more and more expensive with zero visibility

You can influence your algo if you try, it does seem like the defaults are like this but it's pretty malleable in reality

Yes, I understand, thanks for the advice, but it’s exhausting to have so many ads, and it seems like they can’t be removed unless you pay. I won’t be paying anymore to use X. 

Also, I spent two years there posting every day, several times a day, commenting, and trying to join groups of artists or collectors I really admired, but they never replied. I don’t like that arrogance. It’s a small, closed-off group, not inclusive at all. I’d rather stay here
