It's setting up a site where you farm wood and food then end up housing villagers and you raid other villages. Adding you so you can check it!

How do you recruit villagers? I am doing good with the wood and food and building huts but I don't have any villagers yet.

You have to build huts, once you keep adding wood, it will cost you 14 Wood and then you'll start to accumulate people that you can send on to chop wood and gather food.
