Why Do Some Animals Glow in the Dark? Some animals, like jellyfish and fireflies, have a magical ability to glow in the dark. This phenomenon, called bioluminescence, happens when special chemicals in their bodies react to produce light. Animals use this glow to scare predators, attract mates, or even hunt prey. Deep in the ocean, where sunlight doesn’t reach, bioluminescence is the key to survival. What would you do if you could glow in the dark?
