Is there a world in which snaps becomes a more generalized standard for wallet agnostic plugins? Is there even a path for a standard like that to exist?

Good one @cqb! Our implementation is specific to how MetaMask works, but I do think it's possible for a generalized approach to exist. I don't know if there's a path to a standard for that (I don't have much experience with writing standards), but I would be happy to hear from anyone who is interested in that.
