1. I’m surprised by how many people, even some in the music field, haven’t noticed how much the mainstream has shaped music production in recent years. The heavy influence of the mainstream market is also noticeable in video game soundtracks.

Telarc confirms this with compromised mixes in CD versions, using soft clipping and peak limiting to stay competitive, in their classical and jazz albums. However, their SACDs edition retains the original mix in the DSD layer.

4. Perhaps anime soundtracks, due to their growing popularity, are the type of soundtrack/classical music that has worsened the most, closely following the mainstream market, which aims for loudness on as many devices as possible.

5. Modern mixing/mastering practices and certain plugins (especially autotune or clippers) are unfortunately affecting almost all music, regardless of whether it is listened to on poor-performance devices by the majority of people.
