I miss the iPod. I would buy one in a heartbeat and switch over to Apple Music if they brought it back.

You can buy a modified iPod :) https://player-mods.com/ with mod USB C and more memory. With 1TB/2TB the price is approaching to mid/high-end DAPs so I don't worth to buy. I've bought iBasso DX180 DAP with a 1.5TB microsd.

I think many people would love to buy a new classic iPod, but not an updated Touch version. Adding bluetooth support should not be a big effort.  Apple still lacking a proper headphone with lossless-wired support.

Good point and thank you for sharing these! Im going to actually consider getting one. It would be nice if it was something new and official from Apple though. They can even do some new integrations with airpods and their other headphones
