Set a 20m timer to try and forcibly minimize the the scope of some writing. I always take on too much or follow side quests. Timer just rang for the 3rd time. Still unhappy with it. Way too much scope. Every damn time man.

Some thoughts, may not be relevant depending on your level of experience. nn1. Do as much of the minimizing of the idea in your head as possible before you sit down to actually write it. n2. Write a bullet pointed structure from start to finish during the first twenty minutes (or more, 20 mins seems too little time to me)n3. With those in place, write. n4/ Repeat.nnI've found that the more time I spent on planning and structuring, the less time I find I waste on writing. nnThere will always be the days when you stare at a blank screen for hours, or can't seem to concentrate but if you focus on what you need to write, it's way easier to understand how to manage those kind of moments.
