April – at the Token 2049 conference in Dubai, he talked about plans to tokenize Telegram using the TON blockchain.  
April – Durov gave his first public interview in 7 years to Tucker Carlson.  
June – the crypto game Hamster Combat on Telegram reached 250 million users.  
July – Elon Musk compared Telegram’s creator to a young Genghis Khan after reports of him having one hundred of biological children.  
August – Durov was detained in France, despite previously saying he should avoid going to the US, Europe, China, and Russia.
