Today someone respectfully declined to attend a webinar because the topic of CBDC was being discussed. They described it as an 'ethical minefield' and it made me reflect. My understanding is that they do not want to know about what is being done and they do know want to support CBDCs to become a reality. Valid stance.

But is it not better to understand what is being done to better prepare to oppose it rather than being oblivious and not engaging at all with it? Am I being an enabler of this myself by giving a platform to those involved with it to share and present their work?

Another question - if you knew that something would happen whether or not you and your organization were involved in it, would you prefer to be on the inside helping build something that you do not personally support (to get visibility and understanding of it) or would you boycott it? Wholesale CBDC yes Retail CBDC no
