/itookaphoto of today’s vibe on the @farcaster feed. The last-minute changes to the Degen Season 12 rules negatively impacted many talented artists and friends. When you combine that with an 80% reduction in tipping allowance, today has been max pain. Degen has been a crucial incentive layer for all of us on Farcaster—providing funds to distribute to creators and builders who contribute to the network, alongside being rewarded for our quality casting. This whole endeavor is experimental, and we’re fortunate to be part of this innovative space. We create and build because we’re incentivized, but incentives are large-scale experiments, meaning change is inevitable. Changes are essential, but their implementation matters. Transparency and clear communication build trust, while sudden shifts can leave the community feeling blindsided. Degen has evolved before and will again, and it’s vital that these changes strengthen the trust that makes Degen valuable, not weaken it.

Great words, JC. Although it has not harmed me personally, (I do not consider myself an artist either, my thing is hobby and learning) I am very sad to see how these decisions have affected so many talented artists. It has been a difficult day for many, full of uncertainty and frustration. I hope that soon solutions will be found that strengthen the community and benefit everyone 🤍
