Good evening Belgium’s electricity grid operator, Elia, has warned that the country could face blackouts due to an oversupply of solar energy during sunny, low-demand days in spring and summer. In its April 4 summer outlook, Elia highlighted risks to grid stability from renewable overproduction, especially on weekends and holidays. Without sufficient storage or flexible consumption, the imbalance between supply and demand may force the disconnection of solar and wind farms. This "incompressibility" could cause negative electricity prices and frequency instability across European grids.
