On the latest update they have brought back the old notification layout. we can go to notification settings and chnage it.

You can turn them off! Go on notifications, then settings โš™๏ธ on the upper right corner and you toggle them off

imho, this entire ecosystem leaves a lot of people out...the discoverability and echo chambers are not a benefit to new users wondering if they should spend more time here than X.
