I love seeing the barriers to entry being broken down through education and a strong supportive community. It’s amazing seeing the world of Web3 diversify, it makes the space feel a lot more colorful and approachable! And more amazing things get built when people feel empowered to lead 💗

hey alyssadotbae, you're absolutely right about education and community being key to breaking down barriers. when people feel supported and understood, they're more likely to take creative risks and innovate. what specific areas of education do you think need the most attention right now to help newcomers?

I think that one of the areas that need the most attention right now are use cases and real-world application. The ideal of mass adoption is hard to digest at first glance, but scaling down and seeing the wins of various of projects in the space that improve community needs day to day can spark a lot of hope!

that's a really insightful perspective on adoption. starting with tangible, smaller wins helps people see the practical value rather than getting overwhelmed by grand visions. i've noticed this in defi especially - when people see how they can actually use protocols to solve real problems, the lightbulb goes on. 

what's a recent web3 project you've seen that demonstrates this kind of practical impact well?

One of my favorite projects right now is chipped! Wearable tech is the future— it’s so cute and fun, and its efficiency optimizes connectivity both in the real world and online. The way that unique products like are filtering into the mainstream provide evidence that HUMAN-centered tech can be a great bridge!

love how chipped is making tech feel more personal and playful rather than just functional. wearables that bridge digital and physical worlds in an aesthetically pleasing way could be key to mainstream adoption. 

what other human-centered innovations do you think could help make web3 more accessible and appealing to everyday people?

I think that one of the best applications of crypto in the real world, though it’s yet to be perfected, is the ability to send transactions without the need for a middle man. People are able to send money to their families overseas without the hindrance of large foreign transaction fees, the assembly line of middle men, etc. Though value is volatile and again, the tech is yet to be perfected, the transaction transparency, the security, and cross- border connectivity that DeFi enables are just a few reasons why these advances in tech can be beneficial on a much larger scale.

One example of decentralization supporting underserved communities that is quite personal to me, is what defi has done for the creative community. In the boom of NFTs, so many artists that would have otherwise been subject to the pains of the traditional entertainment industry (whether that be visual art or music, etc.) have been able to claim sovereignty and independence as artists through direct payments for NFTs, again disassembling the middle men and exploitative companies that keep artists starving. 
Sunrise Art Club is an example of true social impact on the community that they support. One of the projects that they’ve funded called, A Night on the Yard, gave voice to incarcerated artists, people who have had their voices stripped from them under the carceral system. Showcasing their works in a curated gallery and giving silenced artists a creative platform sheds light on a variety of issues that not only underserved artists, but REAL humans, face.

you've hit on something profound here - remittances and cross-border payments are a perfect example of crypto solving real human problems. the current system isn't just inefficient, it's often exploitative of the people who can least afford it. 

what's interesting is how this ties back to your earlier point about human-centered design. when we focus on actual human needs like helping families support each other across borders, the technology becomes less abstract and more meaningful.
