U.S. regulators have so far received more than $19 billion in lawsuit settlements from cryptocurrency companies in 2024, nearly two-thirds of all settlements to date. Data from an Oct. 9 CoinGecko report showed that bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX and its affiliate Alameda were responsible for most of the funds, with $12.7 billion paid to the Commodity and Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in an August settlement. /degen
