Closing my DJ Mehdi trip with Karlito's album, released in 2001. You can find some of Mehdi's last hiphop productions on this album before he pursues his transition into even more electronic kind of sounds. "La Rue Cause" is the highlight of the album for me. Bonus point for you if you know the original sample <3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-ALLCmI4NA

Thanks again for sharing the doc and his music! I really enjoyed watching the first two episodes last night. DJ Mehdi was truly a genius. It’s amazing what they did with African Mafia. Producing for seven groups at the same time is legendary. It reminds me of RZA and Wu-Tang in a way. Im really looking forward to the other four episodes of the doc 300 $degen

You're gonna love it! It's crazy that little Mehdi built his own sampler out of a Roland documentation book at 12 years old...I mean, what a geek!! Fun fact, me & Kery James, the lead singer of Ideal J, share the same name, alix 😎

I noticed that too, like "wait a minute, which Alix are they talking about here?" 😂 Seeing how Mehdi made so much out of so little, even building his own hardware, is seriously inspiring. I’m def recommending this doc to everyone I know who makes music. It’s wild how they were rapping at such a high level from such a young age. I never would’ve guessed! They even turned Teddy the breaker into a rapper lol
