The idea was proposed by a user with the nickname dwdollar (real name unknown), who introduced the concept on the BitcoinTalk forum.

The primary goal was to establish an organized platform where users could trade BTC instead of negotiating directly through forums or chat rooms. At the time of the launch, the BTC exchange rate was approximately $0.003.
