Stardust Neil Gaiman tells a classic fairytale. Well, it’s got everything you’d expect from a fairytale: witches, enchanted forests, fallen stars. But in classic Gaiman style, it’s also got a touch of modern sensibility, an ensemble of complex characters, and some tricky moral conundrums. It’s kind of an inversion of his usual pattern. Instead of bringing old magic to the modern world, he sets a modern love story in a fully magical old world. His prose, as always, is impeccable. A single skippable sex scene early in the book is all that stands between suitability for kids. It’s definitely worthwhile for adults. Recommended along with the rest of his work.
