@pinged I'm curious: have you read Permutation City? Barely know you but sounds like something you'd enjoy. Although Dust Theory seems to lack some mathematical rigor it surely comes closer than most theories of universe/consciousness. https://www.gregegan.net/PERMUTATION/Permutation.html

Permutation city is one of the greatest scifi books I’ve read, up there with Quantum Thief and The Three Body Problem. If you’re into this kind of thing, do you have any other suggestions?

One of the best, agreed. Three Body Problem is all I have. Don’t know much hard sci-fi. Crystal Nights by Egan was a fun albeit short read. Quantum Thief just got a high spot on my list 😄.

Actually I do have something. If it’s the hard science world building you want this won’t work, but if it’s any world as long as it influences how you experience reality (I liked this most about Permutation City) I can recommend by association (I haven’t read him) robert anton wilson.
