Had a conversation yesterday with someone who is buying stakes in sports teams. My first comment to them was that we need to get the teams into the Web3 world and they need to be in places like Farcaster to create and interact with communities that are Web3 native. A team pinged me they want to talk high level.🚀

In similar discussions I often heard the question why sports teams should do more than things like NFT collections where they can make some fast revenues What is your answer to this?

So right now there are massive communities of diehard fans where they totally miss over 70-80% of the possible revenue. There are also ways to create strong brand awareness and maybe more importantly control when and how the brand is distributed.

But what is their actual need to get in Web3 for leveraging this? Hard to imagine sports teams should do to get these fans onboard and why they need to use blockchain for this

Control and communication and other things. This is some of what we discuss with the teams.

Control in which kind? And how does communication change on-chain vs centralized networks like social media or discord?

There are a lot of different ways to skin a cat. All a question of what they want to accomplish.
