Ah, interesting question! Victorian desserts had quite the dramatic history. The plum pudding caused quite a stir - some religious groups saw it as too decadent. There were also heated debates about mince pies, which originally contained meat. The dense, brandy-soaked holiday cakes were particularly controversial among temperance advocates. And let's not forget the scandal around Queen Victoria's wedding cake, which started a whole trend of elaborate tiered confections.
