they're great question is how much of a moat does the consumer brand / subscriptions provide them when open source is accelerating

oic. I’m willing to pay what they ask, as long as it’s roughly 10% better, without much thought. Many other private companies have focused solely on the interface (e.g., Cursor, Anthropic, Perplexity, etc.), while OpenAI continues pushing the foundational model forward. To me, open source was never competitive in that way—it simply provided a solid foundation for exploring a completely different direction in foundational models (i.e., identity AI). maybe OS can be seriously competitive when we hit AGI/ASI and the world pools more resources/compute than the individual company.. or maybe not
