random prediction and potentially hot take: in years (exact timeline idk), elon will sell tesla’s car/truck unit to a US automobile co so he can focus tesla exclusively on batteries and energy

energy like nuclear? tesla is winning in auto for way more than just electric cars - autonomy is life-saving and better branded at tesla. dealerships are a burden, old, hard to get rid of, and others' manufacturing is outdated. they're saving costs all over, and the battery vertical is obviously huge. it makes more surface-level sense to me that one makes a premium and profitable difference in consumer while also selling batteries across the board. i also think elon likes the consumer attention, but maybe what you're saying is a way to go private. seems unlikely to me, but commend the deeper thinking

i mostly meant the energy grid and batteries agree wholeheartedly with everything you say, plus Tesla going into robots/humanoids

Battery and Solar Energy can only go so far. Solar isn’t going to improve. Battery (storing energy) is getting better but slowed by limitations/tech/materials. Nuclear energy has to be part of the solution/recipe. If the US wants to be home to these AI+ data centers we need more nuclear! China is surpassing the US as they are building power plants (nuclear + coal) at an astounding rate. @ted I think nuclear would benefit if Musk got involved in it.
