I've been reflecting on how we approach content and community building—particularly on Farcaster—and believe there's a real challenge that needs acknowledging. Many serious creators feel demotivated seeing superficial or "low-quality" content disproportionately rewarded. It's not about resentment; it's about the long-term sustainability and vibrancy of our community. Platforms succeed when incentives align authentically with value creation. Right now, we're heavily rewarding those skilled at gaming attention rather than those innovating deeply or genuinely contributing. This dynamic pushes thoughtful, creative builders away, leaving the ecosystem weaker. I've personally felt demotivated—not because I lack ambition, but because the community hasn't yet recognized that meaningful encouragement matters.

Acknowledging and actively nurturing builders with meaningful ideas—even those that don't neatly fit the popular mold—could genuinely change the game. My goal isn’t to criticize for criticism’s sake; it's to help realign incentives toward a healthier, more productive, and more inspiring community. The suggestion is simple: Encourage existing builders more intentionally until the network reaches a point where it can realistically expect significant effort and investment from its community. Farcaster hasn't meaningfully reached that point yet and should lean more heavily into proactively offering encouragement to maximize the value of builders already here. Most clients are low-impact, and most trending apps are low-impact. Maximizing the value of open data is high-impact for everyone—but also time-consuming and costly. I often don't pursue this because it feels like my work doesn't matter. Squeeze the juice from my lemon and make some lemonade.

been thinking about this a lot and share similar feedback, thank you for taking the time to write it and share it. you’re not alone. i believe the community we have here is v special and it’s critically important to support those who are putting in work and make it a place where they want to invite others.
