The biggest issue with the model is it's tone deaf to artists. 

I support experimentation, FAFO and innovation on all fronts here. 

But, tokenizing a piece of art (maybe not content, some other interesting discussions there) into a coin with 1B supply does nothing to "support" the artist. Rather, it turns their work into a vehicle for quick trading and flipping... theoretically. And I say "theoretically" because trading can only occur with volume... apart from maybe a few runners from well-known artists, there is little to no liquidity in this uber-niched "coined art" market. I'd be interested to see how the builders expect for that to change. 

Furthermore, shifting the focus to trading art as a coin literally drains the soul of the art itself. I'd bet very few people are actually taking time with the art. Considering how it connects with them. Seeing if they "feel something" apart from the dopamine rush of the click / trade... 

I'm not saying people shouldn't use it. I'm just saying it's now for me.

strapping a billion token supply to everything doesn't make it better

onchain art makes the most sense as single or limited supply NFTs

we don't have to pivot everything because the trend of the moment is pumping coins

as someone building a product where the "special sauce" is that people collect NFTs, I feel in the same boat at times lol

but I've also been around this industry long enough to see the hype cycles come and go

collecting single moments of provenance as NFTs makes the most sense and will make sense forever, I'm fine staying true to that vision and focusing on creating things that people want to collect vs trying to juice growth with a slightly different format

what matters is the art

make good art, people will come

I feel this completely, and I'm stoked to hear you've been able to stick to your vision. I've carried a similar feeling about some minting/distribution/platform mechanics, and despite seeing others' success and making money, I personally can't pass that feeling, so I've opted out. At the end of the day this is a useful forced reflection about what I want to create in this space, and how that links to my core values. So that's a positive haha. Stoked to see what you're building 🤘

I'm more builder than artist so I feel like it's not my place to comment on how technical implementations impact the way artists create, but my general hunch was that many are not on board with the tokenization movement so it's helpful to get that perspective 

also would love to have you try my app poidh if you're open to it, it's a simple bounty service where the "pics" people upload to prove they did the bounty are NFTs that the bounty creator collects

I created this one just now and you can actually upload via the Warpcast feed if you have Base ETH in your wallet to pay the gas fee

It's actually nice to hear people like yourself you are moreso "buildoors"  feeling the way you do, because sometimes it feels like that doesnt cross over from the art side. Appreciated.
