I'm also a VERY bursty worker who thrives on deadlines so having 15m meetings but on 30m blocking gives me 15m to knock out work or take a break/walk before the next thing That part definitely isn't for everyone but I think will work for me

Similar thought with weekly 1:1s - too frequent to sit with real perspective but sparse enough that you move slower because "ill just talk to person about X in a couple days at our 1:1" instead of pinging now to handle it. Instead 1hr monthly 1:1s with daily standups or ad-hocs

Had my mind blown by a founder that she doesn't do any 30m meetings, only 15 or 60 and I think she's 100% correct Any meeting is either quick and can get knocked out in 15 or needs deeper engagement and should have the space of 60.

Stack Overflow’s new questions per month (from the public data explorer) It’s was clearly inevitable, but still crazy to see

New theory: you should only hire candidates who get at least one “no” in your hiring process (tldr: you need to take chances) conventional wisdom is that you want to hire someone who “ticks all the boxes” - but nobody is going to be an A+ on everything so you end up with someone who is Bs across the board but no “misses”. Someone mid instead, look for people you’re so fucking excited about on almost all the dimensions that you’re willing to take a risk on the parts they’re not, since if they succeed there, they’ll be the best hire you could imagine.

Glad to see it - my gut was that there would be legit movement on it but it feels like that’s been the contraction take
