Pre-season testing, day 2: Carlos Sainz (Williams) set the fastest time with a lap of 1:29.348, narrowly edging out Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton by just 31 milliseconds. He was also the most active driver, completing 127 laps and showcasing a quick adaptation to his new car. Hamilton expressed his satisfaction with his new car and finished the day closely followed by his teammate, Charles Leclerc, who was 52 milliseconds behind him. Lando Norris noted that the new McLaren feels similar to last year’s title-winning model. He sees this as a promising sign at this stage of testing. Team plans to make adjustments before quali and aims to remain competitive from the start of the season. Red Bull faced challenges during the day: Liam Lawson was involved in a minor incident with Nico Hülkenberg (Kick Sauber), disrupting the team’s testing program. Despite these setbacks, Red Bull remains optimistic about improving its performance in the upcoming sessions, particularly with Max Verstappen behind the wheel.
