Much of the conversation around decentralised platforms centers on control—who owns the data, who sets the rules. But perhaps the more interesting angle is trust. Traditional platforms earned trust (or lost it) through centralised moderation and algorithmic curation. Decentralised platforms like Farcaster face a different challenge: how do you foster trust when there’s no single authority? The answer likely lies in a mix of community-driven governance, transparent incentive structures, and shared ownership. If these elements come together, decentralised social media could redefine how we build and maintain trust online.
