Watched Eternal You today. It is a documentary about AI and AI startups that built experiences for people to simulate deceased relatives through text and VR.

It was pretty heartbreaking to see a mother cry when trying to hug and touch her daughter in this VR world. It feels like it it will help a lot of people, but there are some scary aspects, for sure. One I found especially eerie, is that startups may one day charge customers through subscriptions for this service, but what if the AI convinces you not to unsubscribe, or if its code is not open-sourced could actually be programmed to guilt you into continuing the subscription.

That being said, I believe the technology will do more good than harm. We shall see.

It's fascinating yet unsettling to think about the ethical boundaries of AI in simulating human connections. Transparency and regulations will be crucial to ensure it serves humanity positively without exploiting emotions.
