I'm somewhat annoyed by the thoughts of people who imply GameFi as something fundamentally related to gameplay. I tend to believe that nowadays 99% of all GameFi projects that position themselves as a game project are just garbage.

What is GameFi, and why does it have nothing to do with gaming? Let me explain. GameFi is gamified finance, which is essentially classic gamification + DeFi, usually with Play To Earn elements. It is the Play To Earn element that breaks the fundamental gamification of GameFi.

A "useful product" (actually it's just a bubble and a bunch of garbage, but it doesn't matter) that will be popular in the crypto community.

And what about games and all gamification - it's not about money. It is important to understand that real users play to get pleasure, to have fun, for someone it is a stress reliever in the evening after a hard work, for someone it is a fun co-op or multiplayer with friends.

Someone is immersed in the game to get away from all the problems and negativity of real life, and someone is a fan of the game so much that he is ready to achieve high results in the game itself, forgetting about his life.

And in this industry if there is a need for products, then only those that can give new bright emotions, improve gameplay, quality, UX/UI, bring something new and useful. This is the kind of products any gamer needs, for which he will gladly pay.

The gamer doesn't want products with Play To Earn mechanics. He may be interested, but soon he will go back to his favorite game, because he wants to play and enjoy the game, not play and earn.

I would say that almost all of GameFi's products at the moment are not properly categorized as part of the gaming industry. GameFi at this point is a type of crypto product, for the crypto community and has nothing to do with gamification.

Even the few GameFi games that now have real gameplay and may be close to AAA cannot compete with the classic alternative products produced by Valve, Rockstar Games, EA, Ubisoft, Epic Game, Activision, Bethesda, Microsoft, Sony and others.
