Buffett was afraid of public speaking. When Buffett returned to Omaha after graduating from high school, he saw an advertisement in the newspaper that Dale Carnegie public speaking courses were opening in Omaha. From the public speaking training, he learned several psychological techniques to get around fear, gained experience speaking in front of people without risking failure, and learned how to speak confidently in public. He trusted Carnegie because the book "How to Make Friends and Influence People" changed his life.
