A revolution in piloting: a $400,000 helmet that provides a 360-degree field of view Lockheed Martin's F-35 Lightning II is the most expensive military fighter aircraft ever produced and each aircraft costs $109 million. Now, a helmet has been developed to fly with the F-35 that offers impressive capabilities. The Collins Aerospac company has made a helmet called Genesis III or Gen 3 HMDS for the military fighter, which has been developed for nearly a decade and costs $400,000 each. This helmet serves as the pilot's main display as well as the weapons control system. The F-35 Lightning II jet has 6 cameras that look in all directions on its exterior, and the Genesis III shows a combination of all these cameras. In fact, this helmet provides a complete 360-degree view to the pilot.
