Early Years (1960s-1980s) When Nigeria gained independence in 1960, the country used the British Pound Sterling as its currency. In 1973, Nigeria introduced the Naira as its official currency, replacing the Pound Sterling. Exchange Rate Fluctuations (1990s-2000s) In the 1990s, Nigeria's economy faced significant challenges, including inflation, corruption, and political instability. As a result, the Naira's value against the US Dollar fluctuated wildly.

Since we value importation of every commodity we use. Naira can never have value, our government should work on our GDP and ensure we consume more of our local product, this will reduce inflation and stabilise out economy
