Just putting ideas out there. If you introduce aging per turn (in this case stoking is a turn), new villagers come in two forms: migrants and new borns. Stoking the fire also mean the villagers age, so say from a new born to old age within 10 turns. New migrants may have 5-7 turns left to live. You can also tweak birth rates from here.

So there are currently village deaths if you don’t have enough food to feed your villagers and you stoke the fire. 

There are no births but villagers can move into your village and that’s how you get more.
