Carving (Monabatkari) is a branch of handicrafts in which beautiful and intricate raised designs are engraved on wood, bone, or metal. The word "Monabat" is derived from the word "Nabat," meaning "to grow" or "to sprout," referring to the way the designs rise above the surface of the work, hence its name.
