It has been 1 year since my RP node went online, since that time I've been lucky enough to get 4 blocks + 1 sync comm All in, I earned 0.86 ETH from the initial deposit of 16 ETH + 1.6 ETH in RPL ~5% APY earned from ETH staking However, since then RPL has dropped 80% vs ETH (-1.3 ETH) Thus, I'm 0.86 - 1.3 = -0.44 ETH net after a year of staking with RP This is not including hardware / maintenance costs. So, no - small validators are not sitting back and making bank from staking There are real risks involved Of course these are paper losses / sunk costs Let's see how things look next year

I appreciate this transparent breakdown. Hope for everyone’s sake that RPL turns back into a 🚀 44 $DEGEN

yeah im lucky that i ran a 16 EB, i pity those who went all in with LEB 8s RPL is really hampering rocketpool growth. NOs having to compete with speculators is dumb

New tokenomics will fix that. No RPL required under the current leading proposal that will go to vote soon. Might not make you feel any better, but staking is a long term endeavor. RPL will rise again. I agree, though, that node operators should not have to get tangled up in speculation.
