I've changed my mind on tariffs. They're unavoidable. The US needs to raise taxes to cover the deficit. Imposing tariffs on imports (which is indirectly paid by consumers) is the only politically viable way of doing that for the Trump administration. Regardless of whether you agree or not that this is the right way to increase gov revenues, it is the right move for the Trump administration even if it is a net negative for the world.
