PSA on direct casts We're migrating everyone to a new, simpler direct cast system in the next hour or so. The new system allows you to keep messages *forever*. Your previous direct casts are available in read-only mode for the next 28 days. Goal is to have DCs on web in the next couple of weeks.

Casts are private and stored securely, but not end to end encrypted —> are they encrypted at rest or stored in plain text? Direct casts are Warpcast only and not part of the Farcaster protocol. —> just me taking notes to prepare for GM Farcaster stream tomorrow 😆

Good question! For now plaintext, will eventually move to something more secure. If esp. sensitive and you don’t trust us, move the convo to another messaging app for now. Optimizing for speed of iteration to get to web and other features.

Tbh I’m really disappointed with the decision to store messages in plain text. Turning off E2EE was bad enough, but this just feels icky
