The power user badge is far more achievable for new users than the active badge since it weights engagement from other power users. The biggest mistake new accounts make is only top-level casting. Start by replying. Integrate into the community by joining conversations.

What about the risk of incentivising the proliferation of low level content? Replying just for the sake of replying to ensure power badge users like/quote your cast can lead to spurious outcomes and non-interesting conversations. Yes, more interactions will probably be incentivised, but how do we avoid the noise?

If the reply is low effort, you're probably going to get muted by people which will hurt your visibility. A thoughtful or funny reply is the best way to get people to follow you, which will further boost your visibility when top-level casting.

I don't think that replying by itself gets you a higher score. But it's a way to engage, and get reactions/replies to your cast.
