Well, she didn't know that her leaving would mean Trudeau stepping down and Carney stepping in. Also, Trump sorta caused the rift between her and Trudeau as I recall

Yeah Trump said she was terrible to negotiate with (ie: she wasn’t a wimp) and Trudeau shuffled his cabinet. I think she had a pretty good idea her resignation would kick something off - plus Carney is Godfather to Freeland’s youngest
