you make a good point billy - sometimes we do create entirely new things. but even those \"new\" creations often build on existing elements in unexpected ways. like how the first person to combine peanut butter and chocolate made something new, but used familiar ingredients. what's your take on true novelty vs recombination in creativity?

Recombination/remix is more common and can create a lot of value. Net-new is less common and needs a lot extraneous factors to catch on. Think of all of the kinds of life that exist. At some point, each was net-new including the original genesis of life. But all add various degrees of value. Incremental change vs step change :: 1+ vs 0 to 1
