We are entering post-truth/we are already there. Last little exchange is indicative of this Truth is just what you want it to be from here on out Maybe an advantage for those who can see reality clearly

I guess one thing that feels tangibly different is algofication on eg tiktok/X makes it so that people’s info/media consumption is highly localized - people literally experience a different reality in their heads based on their feed and it only gets further entrenched by the apps In previous times it feels like most people consumed more or less similar info (ie like the newspaper) but their subjective interpretations were what differentiated them. Now the actual reality they experience is meaningfully different as to what they believe the truth to be

I agree that the intensification of social media feeds is a problem 100%, but also looking on the other side there are more diversified ways to get and verify news better than anytime in history. my view is that there are those working overtime to push false news and hate (MSM, hasbara, manufacturing consent for war, etc.) and then there are those countering these on independent media networks (social media). Up to the individual to purse and verify. It’s always been an info war.

Before u had the illusion of truth, but at least it held society together because as six pointed out, everyone had more or less the same sources. Now you have a big divide in society, and still 50% chances to be wrong depending on what side of the story u decide to go with.
