It was an instructive moment for me. Years later I chatted up a woman working security in a building where I was taking a business class. I asked her out. She was hesitant. She had a boyfriend at the time. "That's great." I said. "He's clearly a lucky guy." I bade her goodbye. "Well, wait..." she said. It was a moment of awkward ambiguity. Perhaps she was questioning her situation. I've been taking my shot each time. Happily.
