I saw a screening of The Last Showgirl this past weekend, followed by Q&A with lead actress Pamela Anderson, director Gia Coppola (of that family yes) and writer Kate Gersten.
The film was good- it was about Anderson’s character, as her long running show on the Vegas strip faces its last 2 weeks and she has to look back on choices and relationships and figure out what’s next for a 57 year old woman who, as beautiful and strong as she is, is not what the new shows are looking for.
It reminded me of a topic I was discussing on farcaster recently about women. My wish for young women is to develop skills that compound over time - education, business, investing, tech (short list, many more), and avoid focusing too heavily on looks because it’s a depleting resource over time. 2 replies
