I’ve been working on a children’s book too. How was the self publishing process? 
My sister is doing the illustrations (on paper, in water color) and she’s got a few more months to go so I haven’t yet ventured into figuring out how to turn it all into an actual book.

Congrats on the pending children's book! I'll be honest, it was a slog to publish. Perplexity helped with figuring out the layout issues, including how to apply bleed settings, etc. Other than page formatting, if you're planning to publish on Amazon's KDP, the process is relatively easy. But, you may want to consider also publishing your book on IngramSpark so that libraries and bookstores can also carry it. They only have a limited page layouts available, so check that first before choosing one on KDP. DM me if you want more tips.
