As I taper for my first 50k, I can't help but reflect on how far I've come in just a year. Last year at this time, I was gearing up for my first half marathon. Back then, as a self-proclaimed miler, tackling a marathon seemed like an impossible feat. Fast forward a year, and after pushing my limits, Iām now preparing to take on a 50k with nearly 5,000 feet of vertical gain.
If someone had told me a year ago that Iād be doing a 50k, I probably wouldāve laughed and said, "Maybe in a few years." But here I am, just a year into this new chapter, training for the longest and toughest run of my life. Looking ahead, the LA Marathon will be my shortest race of next season. By this time next year, I hope to be planning for my first 50-miler, with my sights set on Michael Versteegās Saddles race around Prescott, Arizona. 6 replies
