what tipping means to me: you know when you go to your favorite restaurants, and they give you a small dessert to express appreciation for you being a great customer? you ever seen a restaurant that pays you to eat there? i haven't. core service (food) first, tip as thank you - that's the way i see it.

you would love europe's takes on tips. unlike america law forbids employers to not pay minimum wage to service workers. so tips are used to express gratitude for a great service. it's an honor to recieve tips while serving someone on europe, because you know it's an expression of gratitude for a service well done, not an expectation/oblgation/survival game
