channel is to followers of the channel - contained to the followers of the channel on the main feed

The way you put it is how I have always thought it worked.

Casts sent to channel followers: Warpcast ensures that any user following the channel receives the casts in their home feed.

Casts sent to author followers: Usually, casts are sent to the home feeds of users following the author. However, this depends on individual preferences, channel content, and social graph data.The algorithm governing the second rule is still being fine-tuned and will be documented once stable.

I feel like casting to home might work for big accounts such as yours with massive following. For smaller accounts casting to home is like posting into a void, barely anyone will see your posts, while posting to channel opens it up to a much wider audience than your follower base.
