knowing what you know now, what would you advise other projects to look for when hiring a CEO/leader for the foundation?

It really depends on what the goals are of the foundation and the stage of the network. Do you want your foundation to be purely an education and advocacy organization, is it a token treasury / security council, or is it one of many development teams.

For Helium, we're still very much in the building phase, especially in the subnetworks. We took a very opinionated stance in pushing governance as far out to the community as possible and we also pushed most protocol development to the Foundation. I think this necessitates a technical leader but I'm biased.
