I came across a quote that said:

"My life got better when I realized I didn't have to be nice. Nice got me used, stressed out and disrespected. I'm not nice. I'm a good person. There's a difference."
And I think a healthier way to frame this is:
My life got better when I learned to balance kindness with self-respect. Being considerate is important, but so are healthy boundaries. I strive to be good-treating others well while also honouring my own needs and values.

There's nothing as good as setting your boundaries and ensuring it's respected!!
